- Take time with your food. Eat slower, savour the smell, taste, texture of what you?re eating. Sit down and eat slowly, putting your cutlery down between each mouthful. Take the pressure off yourself by planning meals for the week ahead. Then, whatever time you come home, there is something already prepared in the freezer or the slow cooker and you don?t have to rush around.

- Look after yourself better. Drink more still water. Many people drink too little water and then think that they?re hungry when in reality they?re a little dehydrated. Commit to better, more regular sleep. Keep your bedroom, cool, aired and tidy and it will be a relaxing place to enjoy, associated with rest and relaxation. When you feel better about yourself you?re less likely to overeat, binge or break your commitment to healthy eating.

- Exercise is an important part of healthy living and, combined with a sensible diet, is an effective way to lose weight. Some people like to use a gym because, having paid a membership fee, they feel obliged to go regularly. They may like the structure of a regular workout, exercise class or swim and perhaps combine it with a social element of mixing and meeting with people on a regular basis. Others prefer to go for a regular walk with family and friends or join a tennis, badminton or golf club. Doing something that you enjoy, that works for you is the only way exercise will be committed to on a regular basis.
